Dr. Ioanna Tsagouri received her BSc in Physics in 1994, her MSc in Nuclear and Particle Physics in 1998 and her PhD in Space Physics in 2003 from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. From 2001 until 2006 she worked as scientific staff at the National Observatory of Athens (NOA). In 2006 she was elected as Assistant Researcher at the Institute for Space Applications and Remote Sensing of NOA and since 2011 she is Associate Researcher at the Institute for Astronomy, Astrophysics, Space Applications and Remote Sensing (IAASARS) of NOA.

Ioanna Tsagouri is member of the Ionospheric Physics Group of NOA. Her current research interests include: space weather effects on the Earth’s ionosphere; ionospheric modeling and forecasting for space weather applications; development of space weather services; ionospheric experiments and monitoring techniques; development of semantic databases and ontology definition for near-Earth space e-science applications. Her work is based on the analysis of ground- and space-based observations for the investigation of the solar wind – magnetosphere – plasmasphere – ionosphere interaction.

She has participated in a large number of research projects funded by EC and other national and international organizations. She has published more than 45 papers in peer review international scientific journals and she has participated to more than 65 scientific conferences. She acts as Associate Editor for Journal of Space Weather and Space Climate.
